Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. This is due to the fact that the Indian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo games for decades. Clients from each of the surrounding states load up in trucks and travel to Oklahoma to wager on Bingo for the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a benchmark ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. From that instance, 23 of the 39 Indian tribes of Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma American Indian tribes to take advantage of the gaming rules, and today control ten gambling halls of their very own. Bingo is the game on which these casinos were built on. Electronic games such as slot machines weren’t approved, due to the fact that they are believed to contribute to gambling addiction more than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma law has changed to allow for big Amerindian betting gambling halls. You’ll now find Indian gambling halls with slot machine games, video poker and 21 tables. Craps and roulette are not allowed in the American Indian gambling dens as of yet, although that is only a waiting game. Nobody can determine what having other gambling den games in the bingo houses will do for the popularity of bingo.
