Oklahoma has long been interrelated with Bingo. That is because the Indian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for generations. Patrons from each of the neighboring states get in cars and travel into Oklahoma to bet on Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) was introduced after a precedent setting decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. Since that instance, 23 of the 39 Amerindian bands located in Oklahoma have introduced bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the betting laws, and at this time operate 10 gambling halls of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were founded. digital games such as slot machines weren’t allowed, because they’re thought to lead to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma law have changed to permit large Indian gaming gambling dens. You’ll now see American Indian casinos with slots, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are not approved in the Native casinos yet, however that is simply a matter of time. No one can authority what having other casino games in the bingo houses will do for the draw of bingo.
