Much has been reported in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry struggling as a consequence of the cigarette ban in the United Kingdom. Things have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for massive aid to assist in keeping the industry alive. But will the online version of this quintessential game provide a salvation, or might it not compare to its bricks and mortar equivalent?
Bingo has been an established game normally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game recently had undergone a recent comeback in popularity with younger people opting to go to the bingo parlours instead of the bars on a Friday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the enacting of the cigarette ban all over United Kingdom.
No more will gamblers be able to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 all public areas will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most favored places where people enjoy smoking.
The outcome of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already prohibited in the bingo parlours. Players have dropped and the industry is literally fighting for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Certainly they have not cast aside this enduring game?
The answer is on the web. Gamblers know that they can play bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a drink and fag and still enjoy monstrous jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the ban on smoking.
Of course playing on the internet will never replace the collective portion of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of players the governing edicts have left a number of bingo players with little option.
