Much has been written in the papers just a while ago about the bingo industry struggling as a result of the smoking ban in the United Kingdom. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. But can the net version of this classic game present a reprieve, or will it never compare to its land based kin?

Bingo has been an established game generally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game recently had seen a recent comeback in appeal with younger people opting to go to the bingo halls rather than the bars on a weekend. This is all about to be reversed with the enacting of the anti smoking law all over Britain.

No longer will players be allowed to puff on cigarettes while marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public place will not be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favorite areas where players enjoy smoking.

The outcome of the anti cigarette law can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already barred in the bingo halls. Players have plunged and the industry is absolutely fighting for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not deserted this familiar game?

The answer is on the web. People realize that they can wager on bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a cocktail and fag and in the end, have a chance at massive cash rewards. This is a recent development and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course gambling on on the internet will never replace the social part of going over to the bingo parlour, but for a group of men and women the law has left many bingo players with no choice.
