An abundance has been stated in the press not long ago about the bingo industry singing the blues because of the anti smoking law in the UK. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big aid to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. However can the net variation of this classic game provide a salvation, or will it never compare to its real life relative?

Bingo is an familiar game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game recently had witnessed a recent return in acceptance with younger people opting to hit the bingo halls instead of the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to be destroyed with the legislating of the cigarette ban across United Kingdom.

No longer will enthusiasts be allowed to smoke whilst marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public locations will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite locations where players like to puff on cigarettes.

The effects of the cigarette ban can already be felt in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo halls. Numbers have plunged and the industry is literally fighting for its life. But where have the players gone? Surely they haven’t forgotten this ancient game?

The answer is on the web. People know that they can wager on bingo using their computer while enjoying a drink and cigarette and in the end, have a chance at big jackpots. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course betting on on the web is unlikely to replace the collective portion of heading down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the rules have left a number of bingo players with little alternative.
