Oklahoma has long been analogous with Bingo. That is because the Indian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for many years. Clients from every one of the surrounding states get in cars and head over to Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo on the weekends.
The 1988 IGRA followed a precedent setting determination by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. Since that instance, twenty three of the 39 American Indian bands located in Oklahoma have opened gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Native tribes to take advantage of the gambling laws, and today control ten casinos of their own. Bingo is the game on which these casinos were founded. automated games such as slots were not permitted, due to the fact that they are believed to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma law has altered to permit large American Indian wagering gambling halls. You will now see American Indian gambling halls with one armed bandits, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are not approved in the Indian casinos yet, however this is just a matter of time. No one can determine whether having other casino games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
