An abundance has been stated in the papers just a while ago about the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the smoking ban in Britain. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge aid to assist in keeping the industry afloat. However does the web adaptation of this quintessential game offer a escape, or will it in no way compare to its land based equivalent?

Bingo has been an enduring game historically enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game recently had witnessed a recent return in acceptance with younger people opting to hit the bingo parlors in place of the bars on a weekend. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the anti cigarette law all over England and Wales.

Players will no longer be permitted to puff on cigarettes whilst marking off their numbers. From the summer of 2007 every public place will not be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most common areas where many people enjoy smoking.

The outcome of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already not permitted in the bingo halls. Numbers have dropped and the industry is literally struggling for its life. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not given up on this classic game?

The answer is on the web. People realise that they can gamble on bingo using their computer while enjoying a beer and smoke and still enjoy huge cash rewards. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened just about perfectly with the ban on smoking.

Of course playing on the net could never replace the communal part of heading over to the bingo hall, but for a demographic of men and women the law has left a good many bingo players with no choice.
